News & Events

My door may be open, but the furnishings are not fully in place. I am working to fill in the many gaps in this site, but I trust you will be patient as I position both old and new materials. Prior to this, I had two websites and a blog addressing issues facing authors and artists, as well as entrepreneurs and executives seeking advice on building their careers and shaping their organization, promotion and events. Bit by bit the various topics I address will be housed here. I invite you to send a note via the Contact form listed on the drop-down menu regarding any special interests you may have!

By the way, can you guess the elements of my personal logo?
For years these symbols were interspersed throughout the many aspects of my life. Eventually performance and design work gave way to...well, yes, the first element in this logo...a pen! The second is a paint brush, referencing the years in which I painted (or supervised the painting) of spaces that needed enhancement. The third element is a geometric flower, referring to floral accents I have brought to the organizations and people for whom I have worked...as well as my own home…

Aloha, Jeanne

The yellow Hibiscus (which is this flower) is the state flower of Hawai`i, with beauty, success, and joy shared in the spirit of Aloha!

I am honored to offer readers and other authors this fourth edition in the Natalie Seachrist Hawaiian Mysteries!

Yen for Murder is the fourth Natalie Seachrist Hawaiian Mystery featuring pan-Pacific history, the multiculturalism of Hawai`i and a touch of the paranormal. Honolulu journalist Natalie Seachrist pursues an intriguing cold case of murder and larceny with the aid of her fleet-footed feline Miss Una, life partner private detective Ke`oni Hewitt, and his former partner, Lt. John Dias of the Honolulu Police Department. Was the murder of a gentle Buddhist minister at her altar and the ingenious theft of an ancient statue of the Shākyamuni Buddha prompted by religious zealousness…or simple greed? An international auction, estate sale, pan-Pacific history, and conflicting paths of Buddhism, conjoin with the distinctive scenery, food, and multiculturalism of all of the Natalie Seachrist Hawaiian Mysteries. As Natalie and her team pursue one of the last haunting cases faced by Ke`oni prior to leaving HPD, the slim facts remaining from the original investigation, and Natalie’s complex visions lead them on another perplexing journey.

a mesmerizing blend of mystery, history, and the supernatural…This book is more than a murder mystery—it’s a journey through Hawaii’s vibrant landscapes, a glimpse into its rich history, and an introduction to the Buddhist religion. Drawing from her years of living in Hawaii, the Arizona-based author infuses the story with vivid descriptions of the islands' lush scenery and cultural traditions. Burrows-Johnson not only immerses readers in the beauty of Hawaii but also educates them about its deep heritage, seamlessly blending storytelling with her insight…The result is an immersive and heartwarming tale that leaves a lasting impression on readers.”

Hometown Visit

September 2018

After an absence of twenty years, I visited my hometown of Portland, Oregon. It was amazing to explore the many things that had changed...and those that remained the same! The City of Roses is noted for Douglas fir trees and I can report that those planted in my youth are now huge! I dropped in at the fiftieth reunion of my 1968 graduating class of Woodrow Wilson High School. As may be expected, I did not recognize anyone, but was delighted to share stories and chocolate covered macadamia nut candy at the gathering. The following week, I had the opportunity to share an overview of my work as an author and give an assignment to a couple of classes of creative writing students at Wilson High. Sadly the door to the stage I had loved so much was locked, but I was delighted to see that a small performance stage had been erected in the drama room. Most gratifying was the long overdue meeting with my friend and Editor Viki Gillespie! She has smoothed out so many aspects of Natalie's adventures in murder and mayhem and it was wonderful to have her join me in addressing a joint meeting of the American Association of University Women mystery book clubs in the Portland area.
